Event Description

After the great feedback for our climbing course last year, we are bringing it back. Once again, our course is intended for absolute beginners. No previous knowledge or equipment is required. The goal of this course is to give you a first overview of the knowledge required to safely climb with a partner in top rope and lead climbing. After the course, you will have a good understanding if climbing is a sport you to get into. You do not need to bring any experience or equipment. You can simply rent the harness and helmet from us, in case you do not have one. The course will be led by a certified mountain guide with a maximum of eight participants. Read the report from the last years course here.

What you should know

It doesn’t matter if you already have some indoor experience or have never climbed before. This course is available to everybody who wants to try out climbing outdoors. We will cover everything you need to know to safely climb at outdoor crags. However, you should revise the learned material quickly after the course for it to stay fresh. If you take a break from climbing after the course, you may wish to book another course at your local climbing gym.

For the advanced climbers: We will cover how to tie the 8 knot, Top Rope belay, lead belay, and rerouting the rope at the top of a route. We teach on the MegaJoule belay device

Why Climbing?

The reason that I have developed an interest in climbing has been my passion for mountaineering. In the Summer of 2020, I organized a mountaineering tour to the Piz Morteratsch, a peak with lots of variety on its ascend. One section consists of scrambling, using your hands for some harder hiking. It turns out, having some climbing experience is useful on such a tour. Since then, I have become a basic climber and feel much more comfortable in difficult terrain. I will continue building my skills to allow me to conquer ever more difficult routes. And I wish to give you this opportunity as well! My intention is not to become the best sports climber but to feel more secure when I go on mountaineering adventures. Join us in our ambition to conquer more technical peaks in the Swiss Alps. Start with this beginner’s climbing course!

This course is also a prerequisite for some of the advanced courses, such as the fall course or the multi-pitch course.
